Obituary for Bill Gene Betz

Bill Gene Betz, 86, of Eldorado, passed away, December 6, 2017 in Eldorado

He was born in Harrisburg, IL on September 27, 1931 to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Hazley) Betz. He was a retired coal miner and an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a longtime member of the Eldorado Church of God. Bill was a legacy to his family, who loved his wife and his family very much. He taught them Christian values of being a friend to all, he also loved to hunt, fish, and work in his garden.

On August 1, 1955 he married Martha Shelton and they celebrated 62 years of marriage and she survives in Eldorado. He is also survived by his children: Mitzi (Steve) Hale of Eldorado and Melody (Sam) Gould of Omaha. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Shane Hale, Brody (Carly) Hale, Kiley (Brian) Adams and John Gould, and four great grandchildren: Keaton and Kruze Lambert, Easton Monroe and Ezra Hale. Bill is also survived by a brother David (Brenda) Betz of Stonefort. and nieces and nephews: Sandy (Tony) Curatolo, Brenda (Ed) Willoff, Kathy (Tom) Hanrahan, Kevin Clayton, Keith (Lisa) Clayton, Scott (Yo) Betz, Jody (Nikki) Betz and B.J. (Kristin) Betz. And he is also survived several great nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by a granddaughter Emily Lambert and a granddaughter in law Katie Gould and a brother Charles Betz Jr. and two sisters: Donna Clayton and Elizabeth Vaughn

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Eldorado Church of God with Rev. Blake Clayton and Rev. Jarrod Barton officiating Visitation will also be at the church from 10:00 AM until service time of 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Watson Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 PM.
